THE CREASING FOOT IS ALSO CALLED THE PIPETING FOOT. IT IS USED TO COVER PIPETING AND CREATE PIPETING OR TO INSERTS
PIPETING INTO SEAMS.
THE GROOVE ON THE BOTTOM OF THE FOOT GUIDES THE PIPETING OR PLEADING DURING SEWING.
OVERLOCK MACHINE PREPARATION:
Needle: One or two
Stitch type: Three- or four-thread overlock
Stitch length: Normal
Upper cutter: Engaged or disengaged
TO DO:
1. Cut enough bias strips to cover the piping and seam allowances.
2. Fold the fabric (wrong sides together) and insert the cord.
3. Attach the cording foot to the machine.
4. Place the fabric and cord under the raised-stitch piping foot so that the cord enters the groove on the underside of the foot as you sew.
TO SEW PLEATED LINES IN A SEAM:
1. Attach the piping foot.
2. Place the fabric (right sides up), the cord, and the second layer of fabric (right sides down) under the foot so that the cord is inserted into the groove of the foot.
3. Sew, keeping the cord in the groove of the foot.
NOTE: DEPENDING ON THE WIDTH OF THE SEWING MARGIN YOU DESIRED, YOU WILL NEED TO ENGAGE THE KNIFE TO TRIM THE FABRIC OR NOT TO ENGAGE IT TO AVOID TRIMMING THE SEWING MARGIN.
