The Singer gathering foot code 550620 is the ideal accessory for quickly and evenly creating decorative pleats and gathers. Perfect for skirts, curtains, dresses, and creative projects, it can gather a single layer of fabric or gather and attach two layers at once. Compatible with various Singer sewing machines, easy to install, and ensures a professional finish.
THE GRIPPING FOOT IS USED TO CREATE GATHERING IN FABRIC. IT CAN GATHER SINGLE FABRIC OR GATHER AND JOIN A SECOND FLAT FABRIC AT THE SAME TIME. IT PERFORMS BEST WITH LIGHT TO MEDIUM WEIGHT FABRICS.

TO GATHER AND JOIN A SECOND FLAT FABRIC AT THE SAME TIME:
1. Attach the gathering foot to the machine.
2. The seam allowance width can be adjusted by loosening the screw on the front of the presser foot, sliding the guide to the desired position, and retightening the screw.
3. Place the fabric to be gathered under the presser foot with the right side up, between the gathering foot and the needle plate.
4. Place the fabric that will NOT be gathered in the slit of the presser foot, with the right side down.
5. Lower the presser foot and sew. Keep the two layers of fabric aligned with the guide to the right of the presser foot. Feed them together, gathering and sewing them together.
NOTE: A HIGHER STITCH LENGTH, TENSION, AND FEED WILL PRODUCE FULLER GATHERING.
